Toyota Aqua
Toyota Aqua est une citadine/supermini hybride entièrement électrique (segment B) fabriquée et commercialisée par Toyota depuis 2011. Ce nom est réservé au marché japonais, car le véhicule a été exporté vers les marchés internationaux sous le nom de Prius c, tirant parti de la popularité du nom de la voiture hybride Prius et commercialisée comme l'alternative plus petite à la Prius liftback.
Aqua est considérée comme le lancement de marque le plus réussi au Japon au cours des 20 dernières années. En janvier 2017, Aqua/Prius c est le deuxième modèle hybride le plus vendu de Toyota après la Prius classique, avec 1 380 100 unités vendues dans le monde. Le Japon, en tant que leader du marché d'Aqua, a vendu 1 154 500 unités de ce modèle jusqu'en janvier 2017. Aqua a été la voiture la plus vendue (non-kei) au Japon pendant trois années consécutives, de 2013 à 2015.
Le nom Aqua signifie "eau" en latin. Ce nom a été choisi pour associer la voiture à "l'image de la transparence pure" et "quelque chose qui est universellement apprécié".
