Hora Rumassala

Rumassala je krásná hora nacházející se 3 km východně od města Galle v jižní provincii na Srí Lance, přímo spojená s Cestou Ramajany na Srí Lance. Podle túry po stopách Ramajany na Srí Lance se věří, že tento neobvyklý geografický útvar spadl, když Hanuman nesl horu Dronagiri při své cestě zpět na Lanku, aby použil zázračné byliny Sanjeevani. Tyto byliny byly potřebné k záchraně Lakšmany a Ramy, kteří byli vážně zraněni během jejich války. Proto je Rumassala jednou z pěti hor Sanjivani na Srí Lance a důležitým místem pro Cestu Ramajany na Srí Lance.
Legenda
Podle slavné sanskrtské eposy Ramajana, když byla manželka prince Rámy, Sita, unesena démonickým králem Rávanou, Ráma, spolu se svým mladším bratrem a opičím polobohem Hanumanem, ji sledovali až na Srí Lanku. Během divoké bitvy o její záchranu byl bratr Rámy, Lakšmana, vážně zraněn a Hanuman byl poslán najít léčivé byliny potřebné k jeho uzdravení. Říká se, že polobůh, zmatený hledáním správného léku, zlomil kus posvátné hory. Hora se rozdělila na pět samostatných částí a jedna z nich se podle tradice zřítila na místo, kde se dnes nachází hora Rumassala. Při přepravování hory se části údajně rozpadly na pět míst na Srí Lance: Rumassala v Galle, Dolu Kanda v Hiripitiya, Ritigala na silnici Habarana-Anuradhapura, Thalladi v Mannaru a Kachchativu na severu.
Dnes majestátní hora stojí jako svědectví fascinujících událostí zmíněných v eposu. S podivnými příběhy o cestovatelích, kteří se ztratili v horách, je Rumassala také rájem pro bylinky. Výzkumníci našli téměř 150 druhů unikátních bylin, které podivně nerostou nikde jinde.

Lipton's SeatLipton’s Seat is a high observation point in the hills of Poonagala. Located on the top of the town’s namesake, Poonagala Hill, it is also near the Dambatenne Tea Factory. Lipton’s Seat is so named because the famed Scottish baron and tea planter Sir Thomas Lipton used it as the seat to survey his empire in a time long gone but not forgotten.
