This day journey combines one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated hill-country train rides with a private road transfer, carrying you from Ella all the way to your hotel in Colombo in roughly eight hours. The train leg winds through the heart of the hill country — past rolling tea plantations, mist-shrouded peaks, cascading waterfalls, and quiet village stations — before concluding at Ambewela, high in the mountains. A private vehicle then takes over for the remaining drive down through the lush landscape to Colombo.
