Gampaha-distriktet

Gampaha är en urban stad i Sri Lanka och är huvudstad i Gampaha-distriktet i Western Province, norr om Colombo. Gampaha-distriktet är huvudsakligen åtskilt från Colombo av Kelanifloden. Gampaha stad ligger cirka 4 km från Miriswatta på vägen Colombo-Kandy. Gampaha är omgivet av städerna Yakkala, Miriswatta, Weliweriya Udugampola och Ja-Ela. Namnet "Gampaha" på singalesiska betyder bokstavligen fem byar. De fem byarna är kända som Ihalagama, Pahalagama, Medagama, Pattiyagama och Aluthgama.

Western Province

Western Province är den tätast befolkade provinsen i Sri Lanka. Den är hemvist för den lagstiftande huvudstaden Sri Jayawardenapura samt Colombo, landets administrativa och affärsmässiga centrum.
