This ten-day tour is a Muslim-friendly route through Sri Lanka's west coast, cultural triangle and central highlands, built around a relaxed pace and visits to mosques and Islamic heritage sites alongside the island's standard highlights. Travel is by private air-conditioned vehicle with a chauffeur guide throughout, taking in Negombo, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Colombo in turn.

1 Negombo

Day 1 — Airport → Negombo

On arrival at Colombo International Airport you are met by your chauffeur guide and driven to Negombo to check in and relax before an evening tour of the town.

Negombo Grand Mosque

An evening city tour of Negombo includes a visit to the Negombo Grand Mosque.

Negombo Fishing Village

Known locally as the Lellama and located near the Old Dutch Gate, this is the second largest open-air fish market in the country. Hundreds of fishing boats bring in their catch, which wholesalers and restaurateurs trade while vendors pack and load fish for distribution across the country and for export. The retail area is a busy scene of customers bargaining with small-scale fish sellers.

2 Sigiriya

Day 2 — Negombo → Sigiriya

After breakfast you travel to Sigiriya, check in, and spend the evening at the rock fortress.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

This 5th-century AD rock fortress was the seat of King Kasyapa. The entrance is framed by the paws of a lion, giving the site its name, the Lion Rock. The climb takes in the well-known frescoes, a steep staircase, terraced gardens, still-working cisterns, and tunnels leading up to the palace ruins.

3 Sigiriya

Day 3 — Sigiriya → Minneriya → Sigiriya

The day combines a village experience near Sigiriya with an evening safari at Minneriya National Park before returning to the hotel.

Hiriwaduna Village Tour

This village retains its traditional way of life. The visit includes an oxen cart ride, a catamaran safari on a calm lake, a walk through paddy fields, and a traditional cooking demonstration, followed by a home-cooked lunch served on lotus leaves over woven trays.

Minneriya National Park Safari

A three-hour safari through the park, known for the Great Elephant Gathering between May and October when over 150 elephants congregate in one place. The park is also home to a range of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians across its scrub-land and forest habitats.

4 Kandy

Day 4 — Sigiriya → Sembuwatta → Kandy

After checking out, the day runs via Matale to Kandy, taking in a mosque, a local community visit and a lake stop along the way.

Grand Mosque Matale

A well-known mosque in Matale, visited for prayers and a meeting with the local community.

Sembuwatta Lake

Situated at Elkaduwa in the Matale District, next to the Campbell's Lane Forest Reserve, this man-made lake was formed from natural spring water and has a natural swimming pool alongside it. It is believed to be between 9 and 12 metres deep and currently belongs to the Elkaduwa Plantations, which uses it to generate electricity for nearby villagers.

5 Kandy

Day 5 — Kandy → Peradeniya → Kandy

The day is spent exploring Kandy town and the nearby botanical gardens before returning to the hotel.

Kandy Town and Meena Makkam Mosque

A walk through the streets of the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka takes in the town's history, a visit to the Meena Makkam Mosque, a Hindu temple, street food stalls, garland makers, and a short three-wheeler ride.

Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya

Established in the early 19th century, these gardens contain over 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices and medicinal plants. Highlights include the cannonball tree, a wobbly suspension bridge, hedge mazes, and avenues shaded by large and rare trees.

6 Nuwara Eliya

Day 6 — Kandy → Nuwara Eliya

After checking out, the drive to Nuwara Eliya includes a stop at a waterfall en route.

Ramboda Falls

The 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, located near Pussellawa, Ramboda Falls has three sections. The middle section can be seen from the A5 highway near the bridge, while reaching the top section requires a climb up a pathway before the bridge, rewarded with a wider view of the fall and surrounding area.

7 Nuwara Eliya

Day 7 — Nuwara Eliya

A day exploring the highland town, including a mosque visit and a walk through its colonial-era streets and parks.

Al Kabeer Grand Mosque

A city exploration tour of Nuwara Eliya includes a visit to the Al Kabeer Grand Mosque.

Nuwara Eliya Town Exploration

Once the premium holiday resort of the British in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the town retains its cottages, villas and mansions. Visitors can call at the old red-bricked post office for postcards, and relax at Queen Victoria Park or by the shores of Lake Gregory.

8 Colombo

Day 8 — Nuwara Eliya → Pinnawala → Colombo

The day's drive takes you from the hill country back towards Colombo, passing through Pinnawala.

9 Colombo

Day 9 — Colombo

A city tour of Colombo takes in its mosques, historic monuments and commercial districts.

Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque (Red Mosque)

One of Colombo's oldest mosques, this site reflects the presence of Arab traders who arrived in the 7th century AD, when Ceylon was a hub on the spice and silk routes. Many of their descendants settled in Colombo and Galle, the historic port areas, and remain there today.

10 Airport

Day 10 — Colombo → Airport

After a relaxed morning and breakfast, you check out and are driven to the airport for your departure flight.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. The tour is private to your group: your own air-conditioned vehicle and an English-speaking chauffeur guide for all 10 days, with no other travellers joining.

Where does the tour start and end?

Day 1 starts at Colombo airport (CMB) and day 10 ends at Colombo airport (CMB). Every stop in between is reached by road in the same vehicle, so there is no other transport to arrange.

Are hotels included?

The base price covers the vehicle and chauffeur guide. In the booking box you can add hotels for all 9 nights at Budget (3★), Standard (4★) or Luxury (5★ and boutique) level, on half board. Hotels we hold contracts with for your dates are named in the price; for any other night our team books a hotel of the same class after you pay.

What vehicle will we travel in?

It depends on your group: a car for 1–2 guests, a van for 3–5, a large van for 6–8 and a bus for 9–15. Choose the number of guests in the booking box and the price updates to match.

Are entrance fees included?

Can we have a national guide?

Yes. A chauffeur guide is always included, and you can add a government-licensed national guide who travels with you for the whole tour. Choose it under Guide in the booking box; the vehicle is sized for the extra seat.

Can we change the itinerary or the dates?
