Pasyale Roganikash is a lepaya, a thick Sinhala Ayurvedic paste made for application to the skin rather than for taking by mouth. Its label names it Roganikash Lepaya in Sinhala script, and it is made by Pasyale Ayurveda Osu (Pvt) Ltd of Kadawatha.
The paste is prepared from three ingredients: attana, the datura plant; beeswax, known in Sinhala as mee iti; and gingelly oil, the sesame oil called thala thel. Together they give a smooth, reddish-brown paste with the soft body of a wax-and-oil ointment.
It is packed in a tall clear glass jar with a gold-coloured metal screw lid, so the colour of the paste shows all the way down. A green and cream label wraps the middle of the jar, carrying the name in large yellow Sinhala lettering alongside the Pasyale mark and the maker's details.
Pasyale Ayurveda Osu was established in 1960 by the Ayurvedic physician Dr Dharmadasa Raddalgoda and works from Dalupitiya, Mahara, in the Kadawatha area of Gampaha district. The jar is offered as a traditional preparation, not as a medicine.
