Known locally as "Bhumyamlaki" in Ayurveda and "Keelanelli" in Sinhala, it thrives in moist, shaded areas and is recognized for its slender stems and tiny leaves arranged along the branches.

This plant has been traditionally used in various medicinal systems for its hepatoprotective properties, particularly in treating liver-related ailments such as hepatitis B and jaundice.
