Shannon Tea Estate, established in 1919, is situated near Hatton in Sri Lanka's Central Province. Nestled at an elevation of 1,372 meters, the estate benefits from a temperate climate with temperatures ranging between 20-30°C and an annual rainfall of approximately 3,878mm, creating ideal conditions for high-quality tea cultivation. The estate is also home to around 11 natural springs and two water ponds in its Glentaffe division, contributing to its rich biodiversity.

Throughout its history, Shannon Tea Estate has seen various managements and ownerships. Notably, from 1956 to 1973, the estate was managed by Superintendent D.G.D. Yapa. The estate has been recognized for its commitment to excellence, exemplified by winning the Silvertips Golden Award at the Leafies 2023, organized by the UK Tea Academy.

Shannon Tea Estate is known for producing a range of teas, including Rotovane, orthodox, silvertips, and high-grown varieties. These teas are characterized by their black, twisted, and neat leaf appearance, coppery bright infusion, and a liquor that is colory, brisk, and thick, reflecting the estate's dedication to quality.
