スリランカには、島の 西海岸、南海岸、そして 東海岸 に広がる多くの スキューバダイビング サイトがあります。これらの場所は多様で美しく、初心者から経験豊富なダイバーまで、その魅力を存分に楽しむことができます。スリランカの スキューバダイビング サイトでは、沈船ダイビング、サンゴ礁の探索、豊かな海洋生物観察などを誰でも楽しむことができます。スリランカは一年中ダイビングが可能な 目的地 です。多くの著名なダイビングセンターでは、PADI 認定コースが提供されており、3〜4日ほどで取得できます。

スキューバダイビングオペレーター

スキューバダイビング のオペレーターは一般的に、小型ボート（約6名のダイバー用）や大型ボート（約15名のダイバー用）を所有しています。これらのダイビングサイトには、海岸からの距離に応じて10〜45分で到達できます。

スリランカの沈船ダイビング

何世紀にもわたり、スリランカはアジア中央の海上交易ルートにおいて重要な場所であり、アジアからスパイスや紅茶が運ばれていました。第二次世界大戦中、スリランカはスエズ運河とマラッカ海峡を通る輸送の戦略的要所でした。植民地時代以来の数世紀にわたり、スリランカの海岸線は多くの船舶を沈めてきました。歴史的記録によると、ポルトガル、オランダ、イギリス の海洋勢力が支配した500年間で、スリランカ沿岸には200を超える 沈船 が存在していた可能性があるとされています。発見された船の多くは、絶え間ない海の影響により崩壊しています。これらの沈船周辺には豊かな海洋生物が生息しており、スリランカ訪問時には必見のスポットです。

スリランカの有名な沈船

HMS ハーミーズ

スリランカの数ある沈船ダイビングサイトの中でも、第二次世界大戦の沈没船 HMS ハーミーズは特に有名です。この全長167メートル、12,900トンの航空母艦は、1942年 4月9日、日本軍の空襲により307名の乗組員とともに沈没しました。この沈船は「軍事海洋墓地」として指定されているため、内部への侵入、遺物の持ち出し、人骨の撮影は禁止されています。

カーキャリア（自動車運搬船）の沈船

カーキャリアの沈船は1983年に沈んだ巨大な船です。サンゴに覆われた船体の周囲には、大型のツバメウオやハタが多く見られます。深度24m付近では自動車が確認でき、さらに深く潜ると巨大なスクリューを見ることができます。

バージ（はしけ）の沈船

深度30mに横たわるバージ（はしけ）の沈船は、サンゴに覆われたデッキの上を魚の群れが泳ぎ回っています。

タージ沈船

45mの港湾船であるタージ沈船には、バラクーダ、アイゴ、アカエイなどが群れを成して生息しています。船体の一部が崩れており、スキューバダイビング による内部進入が可能です。

航空機の沈没遺骸

第二次世界大戦中に撃墜された航空機の残骸は深度30mに沈んでいます。翼、コックピット、そしてねじ曲がったプロペラの残骸が今もはっきりと確認できます。

SS コンチの沈船

最も訪問者が多いのは SS コンチの沈船で、アクララの岩場近くで沈んだ3,300トンのタンカーです。深度15m未満の場所に二つに割れた船体が沈んでおり、海洋生物が豊富に生息しています。これらの沈船は…
