Mercedes Classe “E”
La Mercedes-Benz Classe E è una serie di auto executive prodotte dal costruttore tedesco Mercedes-Benz in varie configurazioni di motori e carrozzerie. Prodotta dal 1953, la Classe E si trova nella fascia media della gamma Mercedes ed è stata commercializzata a livello mondiale in cinque generazioni.
Prima del 1993, la lettera E nella nomenclatura Mercedes-Benz era un suffisso che seguiva il numero del modello di un veicolo e significava Einspritzmotor (in tedesco, motore a iniezione di carburante). Ha iniziato ad apparire all'inizio degli anni '60, quando questa caratteristica è stata ampiamente utilizzata nella linea di prodotti del produttore, e non solo nei suoi modelli di lusso e sportivi di fascia alta. Con il lancio della versione aggiornata W124 nel 1993, l'iniezione di carburante divenne onnipresente nei motori Mercedes, e la E fu adottata come prefisso (ad esempio, E 220) e la linea di modelli fu ufficialmente chiamata Classe E (o E-Klasse). Tutte le generazioni della Classe E hanno offerto sia la trazione posteriore che il sistema di trazione integrale 4Matic di Mercedes.
