About this experience
Step into the lush hillside surrounds of Ella and spend three hours at a working tea plantation with Lakpura. Watch skilled pluckers move through the rows, selecting the finest two leaves and a bud, then chat with them as your English-speaking chauffeur guide translates. The trail threads past bright green carpets of tea and views of distant purple mountains before heading inside the Halpe tea factory to follow the full manufacturing process — withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying — right through to the finished leaf.
The tour wraps with a tea tasting so you leave with a genuine sense of what sets Ceylon tea apart. Your private chauffeur guide collects you directly from your hotel and returns you afterwards. A one-litre bottle of mineral water is provided per person. Participants must be aged 12 or over. Gratuities and personal expenses are not included.
