Mitsubishi Pajero
Mitsubishi Pajero er en fuld størrelse SUV (sport utility vehicle), der blev fremstillet og markedsført globalt af Mitsubishi over fire generationer – den blev introduceret i 1981 og blev taget ud af produktion i 2021.
Pajero-navnet stammer fra Leopardus pajeros, Pampas-katten. Mitsubishi markedsførte SUV'en som Montero i Nordamerika, Spanien og Latinamerika (undtagen Brasilien og Jamaica), da termen "pajero" er nedværdigende (det betyder "idiot") på spansk. I Storbritannien var det kendt som Shogun (??), opkaldt efter det japanske ord for "general". Modellen blev taget ud af produktion i Nordamerika i 2006.
Pajero, Montero og Shogun-navnene blev brugt på andre, mekanisk uafhængige modeller, såsom Pajero Mini kei-bilen, Pajero Junior og Pajero iO/Pinin mini-SUV'er samt mid-size SUV'er baseret på Triton/Pajero/Montero/Shogun Sport. Pajero er en af de fire modeller fra Mitsubishi (de andre er Triton, Pajero Sport og Pajero iO), der deler Mitsubishis Super-Select firehjulstræk system, i modsætning til deres lette Mitsubishi S-AWC all-wheel-drive system.
Pajero har genereret mere end 3,3 millioner salg i sin 40-årige levetid. Navnet lever videre med den mindre Pajero Sport, som er baseret på Mitsubishi Triton/L200/Strada pick-up. På trods af navnesammenfaldet deler Pajero Sport ikke nogen af de originale Pajero's fundamenter og er mindre i den samlede størrelse.
