Habarana City
Habarana village is located where A6 Dambulla-Trincomalee road meets A11 Anuradhapura-Polonnaruwa road in the district of Anuradhapura nearly on the border of adjoining district of Polonnaruwa.
Hiriwadunna Sri Bodhiraja Forest Hermitage
Hiriwadunna Viharaya (Hiriwadunna Sri Bodhiraja Forest Hermitage) er et buddhistisk tempel beliggende i Hiriwadunna landsbyen i Anuradhapura Distrikt, kun 2 km væk fra Habarana by. Flere ruiner af gamle strukturer findes spredt rundt omkring på tempelområdet. Den gamle Hiriwadunna Sø, bygget af kong Wasaba, ligger tæt på tempelstedet.
Dette sted blev populært for nogle år siden, da en lokal præst udgav en konspirationsteori bog kaldet ‘Apa Upan Me Helabima Budun Upan Jambudweepayai’, der hævdede, at Buddha blev født og levede i det gamle Sri Lanka. En stor stenplade, sandsynligvis en Asanagara (symbolsk sæde for Buddha), ligger ved bunden af det gamle bo-træ, som nu er delvist begravet under træets rødder, og er blevet identificeret som Vajrasanaya, hvor Buddha sad under oplysning. Uanset validiteten af disse idéer i denne bog, som er blevet afvist af mange og endda forbudt på biblioteker, er Hiriwadunna et historisk sted, som skal ses for dem, der er interesserede i Sri Lankas historie og buddhistisk arv.
