You will be picked up in an air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Galle prior to the whale-watching tour, which starts from the Mirissa Harbour. The shared boat leaves the harbour at 6.30 am for the morning session or 2.30 pm for the afternoon session. You can request your session when making the booking. The tour duration is approximately 4 1/2 hours, while you will be provided with safety jackets. Once the boat reaches a safe distance, you will be able to witness schools of magnificent whales and dolphins in their natural habitat.
The southern seas of Sri Lanka are inhabited by many types of whales, including blue whales, sperm whales, fin whales, and crowds of dolphins. You might be surprised if you spot an occasional orca swimming by. Once the whale-watching experience ends, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Galle.
