库鲁内格勒区位于斯里兰卡西北部的西部省。该区总面积为4,812.7公顷,包含30个分区秘书处、1,610个格拉玛·尼拉达里分区,以及共4,476个村庄。此外,该区还包括14个选区、2个市政委员会、19个城市委员会、15名议会部长、47名省议会议员、15名部长以及337名地方议会议员。
从地理位置来看,库鲁内格勒区与五个区接壤。北部与阿努拉德普勒区相邻,东部与马特莱区接壤,南部与甘帕哈区和凯格勒区相连,西部与普塔勒姆区相邻。该区的地理位置介于北纬2°28′ – 3°33′以及东经104′ – 178′之间。
