康提区
康提区是中央省的一个行政区,位于斯里兰卡。其面积为1906.3平方公里。区首府为康提。康提是斯里兰卡中央省的一座主要城市,也是斯里兰卡古代国王时代的最后一座都城。城市坐落在康提高原的群山之中,周围遍布热带种植园,尤以茶园最为著名。康提既是行政城市,也是宗教圣地,同时也是中央省的省会。这里坐落着佛牙寺(斯里达拉达玛利伽瓦),这是佛教世界最神圣的朝圣地之一。1988年,康提被列为联合国教科文组织世界遗产。
康提是全岛第二大城市,也是现代斯里兰卡中央省的首府。其独特的地理位置使其成为岛上重要的交通枢纽。康提是通往斯里兰卡中央高地的门户,从岛屿各个方向都可通过主要公路到达。铁路线路从科伦坡出发,这里是海港城市,位于西海岸,途经康提一直延伸到巴杜拉,即中央高地最远的地区。科伦坡—康提和康提—努沃勒埃利耶两条主要公路被认为是斯里兰卡最具风景魅力的道路;科伦坡—康提公路穿过橡胶种植园和稻田,而康提—努沃勒埃利耶公路则穿越稻田和一望无际的茶园。两条道路都沿着蜿蜒的山丘盘旋而上。目前,正通过卡达瓦塔以及风景优美的卡图加斯托塔镇,开展在科伦坡与康提之间修建新高速公路的可行性研究。
康提位于岛内多山且森林茂密的内陆地区。城市坐落在多条山脉之间,包括纳克尔斯山脉和汉塔纳山脉,使其海拔约为500米(1,600英尺)。康提毗邻人工建造的康提湖,位于乌达瓦塔凯勒保护区以南。目前,乌达瓦塔凯勒保护区的面积正在逐渐减少。
这里属于热带雨林气候。由于康提位于岛屿中心且海拔较高,相比国家其他地区,尤其是沿海地区的热带气候,这里的气温更加凉爽、湿度更高。努沃勒埃利耶位于其南部,由于海拔更高,气候更加凉爽。尽管如此,康提仍然保持热带气候特征,因为全年平均气温都在18°C以上。城市在1月至4月之间经历相对干燥的时期;5月至7月以及10月至12月为季风季节,天气多变且不稳定;3月至5月中旬为季风间歇期,降雨较轻但湿度较高。湿度通常保持在70%至79%之间。
康提居民在城市中从事多种休闲与娱乐活动。康提因一年一度被称为埃萨拉佩拉赫拉节的盛大游行而闻名。在这一活动中,用于覆盖佛陀佛牙舍利的内层圣匣之一会被隆重地抬着,穿行于城市的大街小巷,场面极为壮观。
