Localização: Minneriya está localizada a 201 km de Colombo, na Província Centro-Norte do Sri Lanka.

Como chegar a Minneriya: Minneriya pode ser acessada pelas principais rodovias a partir de Colombo, passando por Habarana, na rota para o Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO Polonnaruwa.

Cidade de Minneriya: Minneriya é uma pequena cidade localizada a 6 km a leste da vila de Habarana, na estrada que leva ao sítio de Patrimônio Mundial de Polonnaruwa.

Transporte em Minneriya: Habarana, um importante centro de transporte do Triângulo Cultural com resorts ecológicos de alto padrão, está situada a 6 km a oeste de Minneriya.

Parque Nacional de Minneriya: O antigo reservatório de água da chuva de Minneriya, localizado dentro do Parque Nacional de Minneriya, abriga grandes manadas de elefantes. Entre outros mamíferos presentes no parque estão cervos sambar, cervos malhados, ursos-preguiça e leopardos. O Parque Nacional de Minneriya faz parte de um corredor de elefantes que conecta o Parque Nacional de Kaudulla e o Parque Nacional de Wasgamuwa. De julho a outubro, grandes manadas de elefantes se reúnem ao redor do reservatório de Minneriya quando as fontes de água nas áreas ao redor secam.

About Polonnaruwa District

Polonnaruwa is the 2nd largest city in north central province in Sri Lanka. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO Polonnaruwa has a great history of conquest and struggle behind it and rightfully forms the third element in the Cultural Triangle.
