Either one of the following driving licences is required by Sri Lankan law when driving:
Sri Lankan Driving Licence (with over 3 years of experience; 5 years for SUV)
Temporary Sri Lankan Driving Licence
International Driving Licence (IDL) / International Driving Permit (IDP) endorsed by the Automobile Association of Sri Lanka (AA)
We at Lakpura offer you the convenience of requesting a Driving Licence with an Automobile Association Ceylon Endorsement prior to your arrival in Sri Lanka. It can be obtained on the same day if requirements are met.

A clear passport-size photograph of the applicant (digital copy)
Full name, address, and contact details of the applicant
Scanned copy of the applicant's country driving licence (English copy or translation)
Scanned copy of International Driving Licence (if required by your country’s regulations) (English copy or translation)
Scanned copy of the applicant's passport
The convenience of our package is that the process can be completed while you are still overseas. It’s as simple as it gets.
Our representatives at Lakpura will issue a letter (once you email the required documents) addressed to the Secretary of the Automobile Association of Ceylon, certifying that the applicant currently overseas is eligible to drive and holds a valid driving licence. The documents will be submitted on your behalf and handed over upon your arrival.
You can choose how to receive the endorsed Driving Licence: either at the airport upon arrival, delivered to your hotel in Sri Lanka, or posted to your current communication address worldwide via courier or airmail (delivery cost applies).
