Finding Sinhabahu

This work examines the historical foundations of the Sinhabahu legend through inscriptions spanning from the 2nd Century B.C. to the 12th Century A.D., tracing the ancestry of Vijaya, Sri Lanka's first Sinhalese king. Drawing on archaeological findings and anthropological evidence, it identifies Sinhapura—Vijaya's departure point to Sri Lanka—with Singupuram village on India's east coast, grounding the narrative in verifiable geography. The study further reconciles ancient Mahawansa accounts of the Yakkas with modern archaeological and genetic discoveries, proposing them as ancestors of the Vadda tribes who inhabited pre-colonial Sri Lanka.
