About this experience
This seven-day tour links Sri Lanka's hill country with its southern coast, moving from Kandy's cultural sites through the tea-growing highlands of Nuwara Eliya, Haputale and Ella, down to Yala National Park and on to the beaches and old port town of Galle. Travel is by private vehicle with a chauffeur guide throughout, with a scenic train ride included between Nanu Oya and Haputale.
Along the way you visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, walk through working tea estates to see how Ceylon tea is made, take in waterfalls and viewpoints across the highlands, hike to Little Adam's Peak and the Nine Arches Bridge near Ella, and go on a safari in Yala National Park in search of leopards, elephants and other wildlife. The second half of the trip turns to the coast, with stilt fishermen at Koggala, a turtle hatchery at Rekawa, the Dutch-era Galle Fort, and a visit to a white tea factory near Ahangama.
The route is built around a change of pace from the cool hill towns to the warmer southern shore, giving a mix of culture, scenery, wildlife and coastal life within a single trip before returning to the airport on the final day.
