NHRC Seated Buddha Statue - Pabalu Vehera

This is a replica of the Samadhi Buddha statue that was initially constructed in the 12th century A.D. in Sri Lanka at Pabalu Vehera, Polonnaruwa. The statue is totally carved out of stone and is positioned in the Dhyana Mudra and seated in a simple meditation posture called Virasana, in which he appears to be entirely oblivious to everything around him as he enters a trance-like state of meditation. A number of unique characteristics, such as the length of his earlobes and the tight curls of his hair, enhance the spiritual presence of Buddha. This statue is on par with the renowned Samadhi statue in Anuradhapura in terms of its overall quality.
