One is the iron bridge built by a Civil Engineer, W Wrichtson across river Nilwala. a colonial masterpiece. The other is the Grand Shop, a then-known "Super Mall" and the first of it's kind in Akuressa in 1912, built by D.A.Wannigasekara Mohotti - who engrained the groundbreaking innovation of planting tea. When Akuressa was only known for vegetation and paddy cultivation. The legendary tea maker did no magic but built lives and values for both the society and nation. Today tea planting is history and passed on to the 3rd generation of tea making.
