An ancient practice that brings you peace and calmness – the Nawaguna Wela which is also known as Buddhist beads or Malas symbolizes a tangible link to an age old tradition. For a Buddhist, delusion is the main source of worry and the wordless message of the Buddhist Mala or the Nawaguna Wela is not to worry about things. Traditional Buddhist Mala beads are made from plain and simple materials such as seeds, wood or bone representing purity while reflecting a monks’ calling to remove themselves from material desires. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to use the beads but you can repeat mantras or sit still and focus on your breath at the beginning. These prayer beads are definitely a useful meditation tool to help you keep your mind focused on the present.
