Hiriwadunna Viharaya (Hiriwadunna Sri Bodhiraja Forest Hermitage) est un temple bouddhiste situé dans le village de Hiriwadunna dans le district d'Anuradhapura, à seulement 2 km de la ville de Habarana. Plusieurs ruines de structures anciennes se trouvent dispersées sur les terrains du temple. Le vieux lac Hiriwadunna, construit par le roi Wasaba, se situe près du temple.

Ce site est devenu populaire il y a quelques années lorsqu'un prêtre local a publié un livre sur une théorie du complot intitulé ‘Apa Upan Me Helabima Budun Upan Jambudweepayai’, affirmant que Bouddha était né et avait vécu dans l'ancien Sri Lanka. Une grande dalle de pierre, probablement un Asanagara (siège symbolique de Bouddha), se trouve au bas de l'arbre Bo ancien, maintenant partiellement enterrée sous les racines de l'arbre, et a été identifiée comme Vajrasanaya, l'endroit où Bouddha s'est assis pendant l'illumination. Indépendamment de la validité de ces idées dans ce livre, qui ont été rejetées par beaucoup et même interdites dans les bibliothèques, Hiriwadunna est un lieu historique incontournable pour ceux qui s'intéressent à l'histoire du Sri Lanka et au patrimoine bouddhiste.

Anuradhapura is belongs to the North Central Province in to Sri Lanka.Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Lankan civilization.
