Rathsuwandal ist eine beliebte mittelkörnige rote Reissorte, die traditionell in Sri Lanka angebaut wird. Die Pflanze erreicht eine maximale Höhe von 120 cm. Die Erntezeit beträgt dreieinhalb Monate nach der Aussaat. Die Anzahl der Triebe pro Pflanze beträgt 4 bis 6 und ist relativ gering. Der potenzielle Ertrag liegt bei etwa 45 bis 60 Scheffel pro Acre. Rathsuwandal ist resistent gegen die Reisbräune. Derzeit wird er sowohl in trockenen als auch in feuchten Zonen angebaut.
