About this experience
Udawalawe National Park sits in the dry zone of southern Sri Lanka and is one of the country's most reliable places to spot large herds of Asian elephants in open grassland. The park borders the Udawalawe Reservoir, whose shores draw water buffalo, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds — making a single circuit rewarding across several different habitats. A tracker-driver reads the landscape and animal signs throughout, giving you the best chance of meaningful encounters. Entrance tickets are arranged through Lakpura in advance, so there is no queue at the gate on arrival.
The safari runs for three hours in a 4x4 jeep with a maximum of six passengers. Each passenger receives a complimentary water bottle. Free pickup and drop-off is included for any location within 5 km of the park gate; transfers beyond that radius are available at an additional charge. Citizens of SAARC member countries are eligible for discounted entrance fees — present your passport at the time of purchase.

Highly recommended to spot elephants!
Being able to see a lot of elephants up close! Really a very nice safari, less diversity of animals compared to eg Yala, but definitely recommended!
