Galwila Eco Park is a protected dry zone forest reserve located in Karuwalagaswewa, Puttalam District, Sri Lanka. Established in 2020 by the Department of Forest Conservation, the park spans approximately 30,000 hectares and encompasses the reserved forests of Vanniayagama, Galwila, and parts of the Kala Oya basin. It was developed to promote sustainable tourism and conservation in the dry zone ecosystem.

The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including nearly 30 species of dry zone mammals such as elephants, leopards, sloth bears, and deer. Bird enthusiasts can observe over 100 species of birds, including owls, eagles, and white ibises. The rich biodiversity also includes various reptiles, amphibians, and plant species, making it a valuable site for ecological studies and nature appreciation.

Visitors to Galwila Eco Park can engage in activities like 4x4 safaris, bird watching, and hiking. The park features seven prominent rocky outcrops that offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the adjacent Wilpattu National Park and Kala Oya Valley. Additionally, the park contains archaeological sites of historical significance, such as the Vilandagoda area, which is associated with the legendary love story of Prince Saliya and Asokamala.

Galwila Eco Park operates year-round, with the dry season extending from June to September and the rainy season from September to December. Its accessibility via the Puttalam–Anuradhapura–Trincomalee Highway makes it a convenient destination for eco-tourists and researchers interested in Sri Lanka's dry zone ecosystems and cultural heritage.

புத்தளம் மாவட்டம் பற்றி

புத்தளம் என்பது இலங்கையின் புத்தளம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு நகரம் ஆகும். தென்னை முக்கோணத்தின் உச்சியில் அமைந்துள்ள புத்தளம், நாட்டின் இரண்டாவது பெரிய தென்னை உற்பத்தியாளராகும். மேலும், விவசாயத்திற்கு வளமான நிலமான தப்போவா, ஏக்கருக்கு அதிகபட்ச நெல் உற்பத்தியைப் பதிவு செய்கிறது. புத்தளம் நாட்டின் முக்கிய உப்பு உற்பத்தியாளராகும். கல்பிட்டியாவில் உள்ள ஹாலந்து கோட்டை, தலவிலாவில் உள்ள புனித அன்னாள் தேவாலயம், சிலாவில் உள்ள முனேஸ்வரம் கோவில் மற்றும் புத்தளத்தில் உள்ள மொஹிதீன் ஜும்மா மசூதி (பெரிய மசூதி என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது) ஆகியவை இப்பகுதியின் வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவத்தை அடிக்கோடிட்டுக் காட்டுகின்றன.

வடமேற்கு மாகாணம் பற்றி

வடமேற்கு மாகாணம் என்பது இலங்கையின் ஒரு மாகாணம் ஆகும். குருநாகலா மற்றும் புத்தளம் மாவட்டங்கள் இணைந்து வடமேற்கு அல்லது வயம்பாவை உருவாக்குகின்றன. இதன் தலைநகரம் குருநாகலா ஆகும், இதன் மக்கள்தொகை 28,571 ஆகும். இ மாகாணம் முக்கியமாக அதன் ஏராளமான தென்னைத் தோட்டங்களுக்குப் பெயர் பெற்றது. இப்பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள மற்ற முக்கிய நகரங்கள் சிலாவ் (24,712) மற்றும் புத்தளம் (45,661) ஆகும்; இவை இரண்டும் சிறிய மீன்பிடி நகரங்களாகும். வயம்பா மாகாணத்தின் பெரும்பான்மையான மக்கள் சிங்கள இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள். புத்தளத்தைச் சுற்றி கணிசமான இலங்கை மூர் சிறுபான்மையினரும், உடப்பு மற்றும் முனேஸ்வரத்தில் இலங்கைத் தமிழர்களும் உள்ளனர். மீன்பிடித்தல், இறால் வளர்ப்பு மற்றும் ரப்பர் மரத் தோட்டங்கள் ஆகியவை இப்பகுதியின் மற்ற முக்கியத் தொழில்களாகும். இப்பிரதேசம் 7,888 சதுர கிலோமீட்டர் பரப்பளவையும், 2,184,136 மக்கள்தொகையையும் கொண்டுள்ளது.
