Senna auriculata (Ranawara; රණවරා)
Cassia auriculata - A large shrub with very thick, finely downy branches. Leaves alternate, pinnate, 30-60 cm long; leaflets 8-12 pairs, each 5-15 cm long. Flowers in pedunculate racemes, irregular, yellow with darker veins. Pod long, ligulae, with a broad wing down the middle of each valve, membranous,10-20 cm long, and 1.3-1.6 cm broad with about 5 seeds.
Benefits of cassia
Cassia cinnamon contains chemicals that seem to improve insulin sensitivity, which might help blood sugar control in people with diabetes. It also contains cinnamaldehyde. This chemical might help fight bacteria and fungi. Cassia cinnamon is a very common spice and flavoring agent in foods.
