Mlesna Chocolate Tea is a flavoured Ceylon tea that combines pure Ceylon tea with chocolate extracts, packaged in a 500g flat-bottom foil bag. It comes from MLESNA (Ceylon) Ltd, a Colombo-based tea maker founded in 1983 that now exports to more than 60 countries. The red foil bag is designed to protect the tea's character in transit and on the shelf.
The base is Pure Ceylon Tea, carrying the Ceylon Tea Lion Logo — a certification issued by the Sri Lanka Tea Board confirming that the tea is 100% pure Ceylon tea, packed in Sri Lanka, and meets the Board's quality standards. The chocolate extracts layered into the blend give each brew a rounded, cocoa-edged quality that softens the natural depth of the Ceylon tea without masking it. The ingredient declaration on the packaging is straightforward: Pure Ceylon Tea with Chocolate Extracts.
Mlesna has been blending and exporting Ceylon tea since 1983 and lists more than 3,500 products across its range, from single-origin loose teas to flavoured and gift formats. The brand has received 82 awards over its history, including nine World Star awards for packaging from the World Packaging Organisation. The 500g format of this chocolate tea is practical for households and offices that brew regularly.
The packaging carries a best-before date of September 2027 against a manufacture date of September 2024, giving a three-year shelf window from production. The storage instruction printed on the pack is straightforward: keep it in a cool, dry place. The red foil bag seals well against moisture and ambient odour, both of which affect flavoured teas more noticeably than plain ones.
