Mc Currie Vegetarian Seeni Sambol is a ready-to-eat seeni sambol, the sweet, spicy, slow-cooked onion relish that is a favourite with hoppers in Sri Lanka. The maker describes it as made from vegan ingredients, for those who skip the Maldive fish found in the usual version.
The ready-to-eat jar range is made at the maker's factory in the Nalanda Industrial Zone in the Matale District and packed in glass jars with a red cap. Sambols are traditional Sri Lankan accompaniments to a meal.
