Mc Currie Garlic Powder is dried garlic ground to a fine, pale powder, sold in a red vacuum-packed pouch. It is concentrated, so a small amount gives a strong garlic flavour without peeling or chopping.
As a rough guide, half a teaspoon of garlic powder stands in for one fresh clove. Because it is dry, it mixes evenly into rubs, batters and spice blends where fresh garlic would clump.
In the pack
- Ground dried garlic
- Choose 100g or 1kg
- Vacuum-packed red pouch
In the kitchen
Use it in curries, soups, stews and gravies, in marinades for chicken and fish, in batter for fried snacks, and in dressings and dips. Sprinkle it over roast vegetables, garlic bread or popcorn, or blend it with chilli powder and salt for a quick seasoning.
Storage
Keep the pack tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Mc Currie dry products are made at the Lanka Spice factory in Makumbura, Pannipitiya, where spices are cleaned, graded, ground and packed under food technologists, and vacuum packed in red printed pouches with the air drawn out.
Mc Currie is the brand of Lanka Spice (Pvt) Ltd, which has made spices, spice blends and ready-to-eat jar products in Sri Lanka since 1984.
