This Japanese-inspired katsu sauce is made by MA's Kitchen under its Dad's Garden label. It has the versatility of a soy-based sauce, with fruity undertones from tomato, mango and dates.
Behind that is a long list of spices and herbs, from ginger, tamarind and star anise to lemongrass, pandan leaves and curry leaves, along with onion and garlic. It is not limited to Japanese food and can be used in a wide range of savoury dishes. It comes in a 260ml bottle. Please note that it contains mustard, fish (sprats) and soybean.

How to use
Use it as a dipping sauce for grilled meat and fish, or spoon it over a fried meat cutlet. It is the usual topping for okonomiyaki and works as a seasoning for many Japanese dishes. The maker has also used it as a flavour boost in kottu: stir a little through the chopped roti, vegetables and meat at the end of cooking.
