Lifetone Pure Natural Licorice Tea is a single-ingredient herbal tea made entirely from powdered licorice root, packed into 20 sachets of two grams each — forty grams in total. The root has been a fixture of Ayurvedic practice for centuries and is prized in Sri Lanka, where it is known as vælmī, for the warm, distinctively sweet flavour it lends to a simple cup. Lifetone is produced by Possible Green Private Limited in Killinochchi, Sri Lanka, a manufacturer registered under the Department of Ayurveda, Sri Lanka.
The licorice root gives the tea a natural sweetness that requires no added sugar. Beyond its flavour, the root is a source of carbohydrates, dietary fibre, protein, and an array of minerals including calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, and zinc. The sole ingredient is powdered licorice root — nothing else is added.
Brewing the tea takes a little patience and rewards it. Pour freshly boiled water over the sachet and allow it to infuse for at least five minutes. Before removing the bag, squeeze it gently to draw out the full depth of aroma and flavour. After opening the pack, keep any unused sachets in an airtight container to preserve their character.
The manufacturing facility behind Lifetone holds ISO 22000:2005 certification — a food safety management standard that incorporates Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles to control food safety hazards throughout the production chain. The product is registered under the Department of Ayurveda, Sri Lanka, and is distributed to international markets through a UK office in Kingston Upon Thames.
The on-pack label carries a clear general warning: pregnant and lactating mothers, children, and anyone undergoing medication or surgery should consult their doctor before use. The product is available as a single pack of twenty sachets, or in packs of two or three for those who prefer to keep a larger supply to hand.
