Lakpura® Blue Lotus Flower Powder is made from dried blue lotus flowers ground to a fine, sandy powder. The ingredient is the blue water lily Nymphaea stellata, and the powder is a warm golden-brown flecked with specks of violet and yellow.
Despite the trade name, the plant is a water lily rather than a true lotus. In Sri Lanka it is the nil manel, the pale blue flower whose angular petals give it a star shape from above, and it has been the country's national flower since 1986.
The powder is sold as a raw botanical ingredient for handmade personal-care recipes, where it adds a delicate floral note and a natural plant character. It blends with clays, oils, butters, floral waters or other botanical powders in face masks, herbal soaps, bath powders and body packs. It comes as the plain flower powder and is offered as a botanical cosmetic ingredient, not as a medicine.
