Experience:

Start your journey at 0700 hrs from Kitulgala and proceed to Kandy. En route, stop at Pinnawala to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The orphanage provides a home for young elephants that have been displaced or separated from their natural habitat. It offers one of the best opportunities for an up-close experience with these magnificent animals. Today, with around 70 elephants, Pinnawala is known for having the largest captive herd of elephants in the world.

Thereafter, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, renowned for its extensive collection of ornamental, decorative, and medicinal plants. The gardens feature over 4,000 species, both indigenous and introduced, and are especially famous for having the largest collection of orchids in Asia.

After touring the botanical gardens, enjoy technical tours related to local arts such as gem crafting, woodcarving, and batiks.

Next, visit the Temple of the Tooth, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 16th century to enshrine and protect Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Walk through beautifully decorated passageways and richly painted halls in shades of red, cream, and black. Admire the intricate carvings and exquisite golden statues, experiencing the rich history and artistic heritage of the site.

Upon completion, begin your journey back to your hotel in Kitulgala.
