About this experience
Set out from Unawatuna in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with your English-speaking chauffeur guide for an 11-hour day that threads together coastal scenery and deep cultural heritage. Stop at two sacred Buddhist temples, then step inside the ancestral home and museum of the late Martin Wickramasinghe — one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated authors — before heading to a snake farm in Matara for a close encounter with the island's reptilian residents.
The day ends at the Japanese Peace Pagoda, where you watch the Indian Ocean settle into a calm, coloured sunset. Hotel pick-up and drop-off from Galle is included, along with a litre of bottled mineral water per person.
