This trip takes you out into the eastern waters of Sri Lanka, off the Trincomalee coast, to fish the deep blue water beyond the harbour. Lines go out from a chartered boat with sport fishing equipment supplied, and you can fish by trolling or, if you prefer, at night.

Experience
You join the boat at the harbours of Trincomalee, leaving at 6:00 am for the morning session or 2:30 pm for the evening session. The morning session finishes at 9:00 am and the evening session at 6:00 pm. A night session can be arranged at a customised time and rate; night fishing is only done after 6 pm.
The standard boat is a basic 15-foot fishing boat. If you would prefer a vessel with more modern equipment, a professional fishing boat can be chartered for a separate charge. Sport fishing equipment is provided either way.
Two fishing methods are used at Trincomalee. Trolling means the moving boat draws one or more fishing lines or nets behind it, so the bait presents a more lifelike target; it works particularly well in the morning hours. The alternative is night fishing. Many species are strictly nocturnal, hiding from predators during daylight, so fishing in the quiet darkness after 6 pm can produce high yields.
Because the trip goes out into open ocean, set safety standards apply. Passenger numbers are limited to the number of seats available, every guest is issued a life jacket which must be worn at all times, and all safety instructions given by the crew must be obeyed.
Bring clothing for windy, rainy and warm conditions, along with insect repellent and sun protection. Casual clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor activities are recommended.
