This statue is portrayed in the meditative position of Samadhi Mudra, which is also referred to as Dhyana Mudra. Virasana is the posture of the legs, sometimes referred to as Paryankasana. In Sri Lanka, Virasana is by far the most familiar sitting position for Buddha sculptures.
