가면 제작은 스리랑카의 특정 가문에서 대대로 전승되어 온 전통 공예입니다. 이 가문의 장인들은 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 이 기술을 연마하여 정교한 목공예 문양, 장식 기법, 그리고 생생한 색상을 접목시켜 최고의 가면을 만들어냅니다.

락샤 가면은 툭 튀어나온 눈과 화려한 장식으로 정교하게 조각된 이국적인 악마를 형상화한 가면입니다. 가라 락샤 가면(가라 야카라고도 함)은 악령을 쫓고 다양한 정화 의식이나 퇴마 의식에서 질병을 앓는 환자의 회복을 위해 사용되는 전통 가면 중 하나입니다. 하지만 오늘날에는 단순히 수집용 예술품이나 전통 무용 공연에 사용되기도 합니다. 악마의 왕을 상징한다고 전해지는 가라 가면은 강렬한 색상으로 칠해져 있으며, 세 마리의 뱀 머리가 왕관처럼 얹혀 있습니다. 이 가면은 개인을 해치는 악의 세력을 물리치는 데 도움이 된다고 믿어지며, 문화 의식에서 중요한 부분을 차지합니다.

5. Masks are made from acrylic paint on goda kaduru (strychnine tree) wood.
6. All masks are to be used as home decor items and not to wear for traditional kolam dancing. If you require wearable masks, you will need to order a specific type with spaces / gaps for the mouth, eyes and proper breathing. Custom made wearable masks can be ordered separately upon request and proper measurement.
