Unter den mexikanischen Zimtsorten gilt die Sorte M5 als die beste Zimtqualität. Ihre Stangen sind goldbraun (oder weisen leicht rötliche Flecken auf der Oberfläche der Stacheln auf) und dünner. Außerdem ist die Textur relativ rau und grob. Der Durchmesser der Sorte M5 variiert zwischen 16 und 18 mm.
