Kollektion: Birdwatching from Horton Plains

Located over 6500 feet above sea level, the Horton Plains National Park is a highland plateau is a World Heritage Site and also a well protected area. Mostly consisting of grasslands, the Horton Plains is a trekkers paradise while birdwatching enthusiasts are also in for a treat. Over 80 species of birds can be spotted at the plains while 20 species of endemic birds have also been spotted. These include the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush, the Orange -billed Babbler and even the Dull-blue Flycatcher. A variety of migrant birds such as the Crested Serpent Eagle and the Alpine Swift can also be seen.
