NHRC Medicinal Trough - Polonnaruwa

(SKU: LSB100D76D) The Alahana Parivena Hospital at Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka was a part of a large Monastic complex. There is independent textual, epigraphic, and archaeological evidence that this building was a hospital- notably the location of a stone medicinal bath. The medicine trough also known in the native language as Behet Oruva made of stone can still be seen in one room of the ancient hospital complex. This trough had been used for treating patients by immersing in herbal oil.
