Mlesna Caramel Tea is a flavoured Ceylon tea from the Colombo tea house Mlesna, packed as 10 luxury tea bags in a small carton. The front of the box carries the French name as well, Thé au Caramel, and calls it A Fine Speciality Tea.
The side panel describes what is inside in the maker's own words: garden fresh fine Ceylon tea processed with natural flavour extracts, to give an aromatic tea that is delightful and crisp. The artwork shows a heap of caramel pieces beside a steaming cup, in keeping with the name.
Mlesna lists this pack as Caramel Tea in its Luxury Foil Envelope format, 10 tea bags holding 20g of tea in all. Each bag sits in its own foil envelope, so the bags stay separate and are easy to carry to the office, pack for a trip or hand out one at a time.
The Mlesna brand was launched in 1983 by Euro-Scan Exports (Pvt) Ltd of Colombo, with a range of blended and flavoured Ceylon teas presented in gift packaging. Caramel Tea is also sold by the maker as loose leaf in larger packs; this carton is the tea-bag version, and it sits well alongside the other small Mlesna flavoured cartons in a hamper.
