Birdwatching at Anawilundawa Sanctuary from Kalpitiya

The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Puttalam district in the North-Western province of the country; between Chilaw and Puttlam – to be more specific - it is situated between the coast and the Chilaw-Puttalam railway line.

Experience:

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kalpitiya, early in the morning, at 5 am. Your chauffeur will take you on a two and a half-hour drive to get to Anawilundawa Sanctuary and morning birding at wetland and forest for looking for waterbirds, waders and forest birds, and other wildlife (i.e. reptiles, butterflies, dragonflies, etc). Afternoon visit Nawadamkulam bird Sanctuary for looking for waterbirds, waders and forest birds, and other wildlife (i.e. reptiles, butterflies, dragonflies, etc). Late afternoon drive to Kalpitiya.

Notes:

Comfortable clothing. Hardy hiking shoes appropriate for trudging in the mud. A wide-brimmed hat or billed cap to keep off the sun.
