Escape Colombo for the quiet countryside of the old Kotte kingdom on this private four-hour cycling tour. Your morning starts with an 8:00 am pick-up from your Colombo city hotel and a short transfer to the start, where your English-speaking cycling host gives a safety briefing at 8:30 am. From 9:15 am you ride a 15 km or 25 km route through lush paddy fields, water tanks, wetlands and bird sanctuaries, with stories of battle, betrayal and literature from the history of the Kotte kingdom along the way. Monitor lizards and a wide variety of birds are regular sightings, and the occasional crocodile too.
Midway you stop for a traditional Sri Lankan snack of rotty with hot tea, and the ride ends at around 11:30 am with the transfer back to your hotel. Pick-up and drop-off from Colombo city hotels, mountain bikes and helmets, an experienced cycling host, traditional snacks and refreshments, water and first aid assistance are all included. The tour is private and riders from age five are welcome. Personal expenses, gratuities, and food and drinks beyond those listed are not included.
