About this experience
Spanning 58,849 hectares of Sri Lanka's dry zone and set beside the eco-rich Kuda Sigiriya, Maduru Oya National Park is well known for its elephant habitat. This three-hour safari drives you through the park's many habitat types, revealing the rich nature and wildlife within them — with a naturalist along to bring the landscape to life and, on the evening option, a beautiful sunset to close the day.
Alongside Asian elephants, the park is home to leopards, sloth bears, Sambhur, spotted and barking deer, wild boar and wild buffalo, plus torque macaque, purple-faced leaf monkey and the nocturnal slender loris. Birdlife tops 100 species — among them lesser adjutant, woolly-necked stork, openbill, painted stork, racket-tailed drongo, yellow-fronted barbet and Sri Lanka jungle fowl, with the greater flamingo a seasonal visitor.
