Wilpattu is Sri Lanka's largest national park — a wide sweep of dry rainforest, open grassland and natural lakes where elephants move between the tree line, leopards cross sun-bleached clearings and several species of deer graze undisturbed. The terrain shifts constantly: dense canopy gives way to pale sandy tracks, then to the glassy stillness of a lake shore where painted storks and kingfishers work the shallows. You cover up to 45 kilometres inside the park in your own jeep, your driver cutting the engine whenever something moves, reading the ground with the attention of a tracker who has done this across every corner of the park.

Your jeep is private to your group — no other travellers join you. You choose the duration that suits your plans: a focused 3-hour circuit, a thorough 6-hour drive, or a full 9-hour day across the park's varied terrain. The jeep holds up to six passengers, and Lakpura prices by the vehicle, so the cost per head drops as your group grows. At booking you decide whether to include park entrance tickets or purchase them at the gate; you can also add a naturalist guide as an optional extra on top of the jeep, with or without tickets.
