About this experience

Your driver-tracker picks you up and heads into Minneriya National Park, where Sri Lanka's North Central Plains open into tropical dry forest and broad grassland fringing the ancient Minneriya reservoir. Across 15 kilometres of track, your private 4×4 moves at the pace the bush demands — engine cut when movement catches the eye, attention shifting between treeline and shoreline. Elephants are the park's defining draw, gathering along the reservoir's grassland fringe in one of Asia's most celebrated spectacles of the species. The park also holds monkeys, sloth bear, mongoose, spotted deer, sambar deer, water buffalo, porcupine, and the rarely glimpsed Indian pangolin.

Your Lakpura booking gives your group sole use of the jeep for a private three-hour safari — from one to six guests. Free pickup and drop-off is included within 5 km of the park gate. At checkout you choose your ticket arrangement: select "Jeep with No Tickets" to purchase park entrance at the gate yourself, or "Jeep with Tickets" to have them included and skip the queue. On top of either option, you can add a professional naturalist guide — a worthwhile extra if you want sharper context on the wildlife and habitat around you.
