Katukurunda Racing Track

Katukurunda Racing Track, located near Kalutara on Sri Lanka’s west coast, is one of the country’s most notable venues for motorsport enthusiasts. Originally built as a World War II airstrip, the track has been repurposed over the years to host a variety of motor racing events, including car races, motorcycle championships, drag races, and autocross competitions. Its long straights and wide layout make it a popular choice for high-speed events and driver training sessions.

The track’s versatile design allows it to be configured in different layouts, giving racers a mix of fast sections and technical corners. This makes Katukurunda a favourite among local drivers who value both speed and skill-building. Many motorsport clubs in Sri Lanka regularly organize events here, attracting participants from around the island and offering a lively racing atmosphere.

Beyond competitive events, Katukurunda also serves as a training ground for new drivers, police units, and military personnel due to its spacious and controlled environment. The track’s proximity to Colombo makes it easily accessible, contributing to its status as an important hub for Sri Lanka’s motorsport culture.
