Sesame is a flowering plant in the genus Sesamum, also called benne. In Sri Lanka, India, Japan and China, one of the most famous medicinal plant is Thala; ??, scientifically known as Sesamum indicum. The history of the blade, dates back 5,000 years.

There are several types of sesame seeds that have been eaten since the middle of that time.
